If you were born with a certain genetic makeup, if there is a history of alcoholism in your family, if you experience worsening consequences of your drinking and still can’t stop…you might be one of us. And alcohol use disorder is a progressive disease that only gets worse over time if left untreated.Since alcoholism is also a self-diagnosed and self-treated disease, you have to be willing to do the work necessary to recover.
