The stereotypical perception of college sets a tone for drinking and mimicking the actions of peers, and some people go overboard with their so-called "social drinking." According to a new poll by Independent, one in four students are aware of someone in university who they believe is an alcoholic.It is assumed that getting drunk at parties or other occasions is an important part of the entire college experience. However, this mindset is the root of students relying on alcohol as a crutch for dealing with stress and pressure, which drives them to the verge of alcoholism.In this survey of 1,000 students, the Independent reported that 32 percent of the respondents believed that at least three people they know are dependent on alcohol. Also, the study found that male students are more likely to know someone suffering from a drinking problem than female students.
