It’s been 10 years since Kat Von D decided to quit drinking.

The former LA Ink star, who celebrated a decade being alcohol-free back in July, wanted to remind her 6 million followers about her amazing milestone. On Tuesday, the celebrity tattoo artist took to Instagram to reflect on her sobriety by posting a series of throwback photos of her wild drinking days.

“Looking at old photos from back when I used to drink get high is a tough one for me. If you look at the first 2 photos here, at first glance, I looked like I was probably just having a good time… but if you look closely, I was obviously desperately hurting. The 3rd photo is of me now. 10 years of sobriety under my belt, and couldn’t be more happy/grateful for it,” the tattoo-vixen wrote.

Von D, who is being honored with the Shining Star Award from the Peggy Albrecht Friendly House, a home for women recovering from substance and alcohol abuse, revealed despite her troublesome past, she wouldn’t change a thing. “I don’t regret my drunken past, but more importantly, I don’t regret taking the chance to get sober,” the artist said.

The creator of Kat Von D beauty has not been shy about her long-term recovery with drugs in hopes of helping people going through similar tribulations. During an appearance on The Rosie Show, the Mexican beauty talked about her decision to get sober after it began to interfere with her career.

“I’m a pretty disciplined person, but I had made a promise to myself when I started professionally tattooing that if there was anything that would ever get in the way of my ability to tattoo, I would cut it out. When I realized that drinking was getting in the way, I woke up one day and said, ‘I don’t want to drink anymore,’ and I stopped. It sounds simple but you know, I had to deal with, like, the fact that my phone didn’t ring anymore, and like, ‘Wait, my friends aren’t really my friends, I’m just a party favor.’ And that’s ok … now I hang out with people who are on the same frequency,” the Mexican belleza told Rosie O’Donnell.
