Pop star Demi Lovato has spoken out for the first time since a suspected drug overdose last month.
Lovato wrote on Instagram that addiction is not something “that disappears or fades with time.”
The 25-year-old was hospitalized in Los Angeles on July 24, but was reported to be in stable condition.
The singer has publicly struggled with substance abuse and an eating disorder during her career, and had previously done stints in rehab starting in 2010.

(Reuters) – US pop singer Demi Lovato spoke out on Sunday about her battle with addiction, saying she needed “time to heal and focus on my sobriety” days after media reports said she was taken to a Los Angeles hospital suffering from a suspected overdose.
“I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction,” the 25-year-old Grammy-nominated recording artist wrote on Instagram. “What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet.”
