I have written much about the opiate crisis in our country. I have written about the addictive properties of opiates, the devastation to the addict and their loved ones, the criminal aspect of addiction, etc. However, not much is being said about the children of addicts and their suffering.
There are many perils associated with being a child of an addict.
First of all, one of the common fallouts is that these children grow up in a home where addiction is a normal aspect of everyday life. It becomes part of a normal day.
