'I AM NOT AN ALCOHOLIC': GERARD BUTLER REVEALS THE REAL REASON BEHIND HIS STRETCH IN REHAB

Actor Gerard Butler has revealed his rehab agony and set the record straight over rumours of his alcoholism.

The 42-year-old Scot checked into the Betty Ford Centre in February for three weeks after being injured in a surfing accident.

He said: 'Maybe a stronger person wouldn't have needed to go. When you hear the word rehab, you think, "He's a mess, he's f***** up." But I'm glad I did it.

'I've made a s***load of wrong decisions in my life. But I know I've made some right ones as well'

Scottish Gerard - who shot to worldwide fame in gritty drama 300 - claimed rumours of alcohol abuse problems really 'p**sed him off'.

He said: 'I haven't had a drink in 15 years.'

The Bounty Hunter star - who admits to having an addictive personality - checked into a pain-management program after being nearly killed in a surfing accident while shooting drama Chasing Mavericks.
