By: Bruce BakerSylvester Stallone's son, Sage, died of a heart attack, not drugs or suicide, contrary to tabloids and celebrity critics. Sage Stallone's autopsy showed that atherosclerosis or hardening of the arteries killed the "Rocky V" star's son.
According to a Friday Report from CNN, a Los Angeles County coroner said there was no evidence that the actor died from anything other than natural causes. While a small amount of over-the-counter (OTC) medication was found in his system, it was not enough to kill the actor.
Sage Stallone's cause of death from cardiac arrest puts to bed rumors that swirled around in the wake of his death.
Sylvester Stallones' son, 36, was found dead by his housekeeper on July 13. Some reports surfaced that Sage's home was littered with "large prescription bottles" and his residence was a mess. Other reports suggested the actor lived a reclusive lifestyle.
However, Sage's family pushed back on rumors that Stallone was a drug addict or was suicidal. In fact, they said he was happy and preparing to marry his fiancee.
Sylvester Stallone made this statement after Sage was found dead:
"Because when a parent loses a child there is no greater pain. Therefore I am imploring people to respect my wonderfully talented son's memory and feel compassion for his loving mother, Sasha, because this agonizing loss will be felt for the rest of our lives. Sage was our first child and the center of our universe and I am humbly begging for all to have my son's memory and soul left in peace."
Sage Stallone's cause of death from the autopsy sheds light on the fact that critics and tabloids are quick to spread rumors about a celebrity's death without gathering all the facts. Oftentimes, as is the practice, the media hints at drugs or suicide as a cause of death.
