CHARLIE SHEEN'S EX-WIFE TO CELEBRITY WEBSITE
LOS ANGELES - A former employee at an addiction treatment center where Brooke Mueller stayed admits in a sworn declaration that she leaked confidential information about Charlie Sheen's ex-wife to a celebrity website, according to court papers obtained today.
Tonia Arey claims in her three-page declaration -- filed by Mueller's lawyers last Thursday -- that she was not trained by the staff at the Canyon at Peace Park in Malibu to keep patient information secret. She said she received an email copy of Mueller's admission note to the recovery center on Feb. 10, 2010.
"I caused (the note) to be sent to (the celebrity site) in hopes of receiving money...," her declaration states.
Arey says she was hired at the Canyon at Peace Park in late 2008 as a personal trainer. The following summer, she became a residential assistant and received emails whenever a new patient was admitted.
"I was never given a manual on employee protocol or expectations," Arey states. "I never attended any meetings where the importance of patient confidentiality was discussed."
Arey also claims that patient files were casually left on a table in the staff room or in an unlocked file cabinet. None were labeled "confidential," she says.
In her lawsuit filed last October in Los Angeles Superior Court, Mueller maintains that she was assured her privacy, admission and all other information about her time at the recovery center would be kept confidential when she checked into the Malibu facility
